On behalf of the Government and people of Antigua and Barbuda, we are particularly pleased to welcome you to our website that is dedicated to monitoring the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
As a Small Island Developing State (SIDS), we are challenged by far-reaching vulnerabilities ranging from high-indebtedness, financial crises, to adverse events of climate change and the global health crisis such as COVID-19. These vulnerabilities have stymied our growth, development, and ultimately the implementation of the SDGs.
Despite these occurrences, we remain resolute to attain growth and development that is sustainable and beneficial to all residents and citizens. Our implementation is centered on 5 key objectives:
● Optimal generation of wealth;
● Enhanced social cohesion;
● Improved health of the natural environment;
● Sustained historical and cultural assets; and
● Enhanced citizen security.
With these objectives in mind, we pledge to engage in nation-building that is sound, people-centric and resilient. In this connection, a national SDG Committee has been established and chaired by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
To this end, we urge you to read, monitor and engage with the rich and compelling content presented throughout this website.
Hon. Gaston Browne
Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda
