My Ministry has been charged with the critical task of coordinating and monitoring the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Antigua and Barbuda. This space is a testament to our unwavering dedication and commitment to “build forward stronger” by way of the global goals.
With overwhelming support from the Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda, our SDG committee is chaired by the Director of International Trade within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Through the work of the Office of the Director, Antigua and Barbuda presented its first Voluntary National Review (VNR) to the 2021 UN High-level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development. The VNR was informed by immense consultations with stakeholders from the private and public sectors, civil society, NGOs, media, youth, and academia. The resulting open and robust discussions have further accelerated the localization of the Global Agenda.
Our work has only just begun! We intend to ensure that our National Development Plan is closely aligned with the SDGs, continuously engage all stakeholders, and forge partnerships with Member States and various Global development institutions.
We are motivated, determined and committed to achieving the SDGs – making our country a good place to live, where everyone is included.
Hon. E.P. Chet Greene
Minister of Foreign Affairs
